P.TOILE (trenton rec.berlin, the basement beirut)

Claudia Marquardt aka p.toile is originally from Kiel, Germany. It all began there in 1993 when she started messing around at home with a simple mixer, a tape recorder and a record player. Soon she got herself 2 Technics MKII and a Dj mixer and found herself mixing at different parties... That's where she found her passion.
In 1998, she opened up "Starbeat", a record shop specialized in Hip-Hop and electronic music and located in Kiel. A year later she set up "Groove Complex" with Kai Hellebrandt, who is now running his own club called "Luna Club" in Kiel. As a collective, they brought to Kiel artists like Terranova, LTJ Bukem, Jazzanova, Smith & Mighty, Rockers Hi-Fi, Patrick Pulinger and many more...
That gave p.toile the opportunity to practise performing on stage, opening up for people like Daniel Haksmann (WMF, Berlin), Shantel (!K7, Berlin), Glyn "Bigga" Bush (Lightning Head, England), Frank Martiniq (Boxer-recordings, Cologne), Gilb'r (Versatile, Paris)...

P.toile moved to Paris in 2001 where she started working for Discograph (record distributor) as an Internet Editor & Coordinator . She was in charge of the booking for the "Lizard Lounge" club and took care of the "Mange Disque" record store. She also had a monthly night at Batofar called "Schall".

P.toile has been living in Berlin since May 2004 and runs a booking agency called Clique Bookings, handling such artists as Trentemøller, Dirt Crew, Martinez, Tom Clark, Duplex 100 and many more... Lately, she's also been getting into production: an Ep called "sticklip" is out now on Trenton featuring Pan/Tone and Frank Martiniq remixes... Another ep – as well as a mix CD on Trenton - is due for release this year.
